The Cantina Tramin Loam is dense and complex and presents itself wonderfully full-bodied on the palate with aromas of wild cherry, blackcurrant and dried fruit, notes of dark chocolate meet cedar wood and leathery tobacco pouch. With its soft tannin structure and noticeable wood, the enjoyment of this extraordinarily elegant Bordeaux Blend ends in a very long-lasting finish. This spicy-fruity red wine cuvée accompanies hearty Tyrolean dishes, excellent with game dishes and roasts, dark grilled meat with roasted aromas, and also stands its ground alongside aged mountain cheeses.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eCantina Tramin – Winemaking\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2022 vintage began with above-average temperatures in spring, which favored an early budbreak. The sustained warm temperatures in May led to rapid flowering. Thanks to targeted vineyard work and occasional rain, the vines were kept in a stress-free condition despite summer phases with extreme heat. The harvest began almost two weeks earlier than usual. Because the weather played along perfectly, grapes of outstanding quality could be harvested throughout the entire harvest period. The red wines of the 2022 vintage are impressive; they benefit from a high degree of ripeness and develop complex fruit and full flavor with powerful aromas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn the alpine region of South Tyrol, locations with a microclimate where late-ripening red grape varieties also reach full maturity are rare. The Loam, made from Cabernet and Merlot, owes its expressive character to just such a sheltered location: the hamlet of Rungg. The special nature and heat storage capacity of the clay and limestone soils of this vineyard also give it its name Loam, which means clay in the South Tyrolean dialect.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 15-25 year old vines for this Cantina Tramin red wine cuvée are located in prime sites at 250-350m above sea level. The grapes were harvested by hand at the time of their optimal physiological ripeness and brought to the winery building in small containers, where they were destemmed. Maceration took place in large wooden barrels at a controlled temperature (28°C) with regular pump-overs. This brings out the typical aromas more strongly and leads to an intense ruby red color.
