Lid T3. Flat cover for the grill head, 2 x 46 x 46 cm.
The T3 lid is a flat stainless steel cover for the Thüros T3, which protects the grill from rain and dirt and smothers residual embers. Not a hood, not a cooking attachment, not an accessory for indirect grilling.
The T3 lid measures 2 x 46 x 46 cm and is only suitable for the medium T3. After grilling, ash remains in the grill, and whatever falls into it afterward stays there until next time. The lid covers the grill head when it is not in use.
What the lid does
The lid lies flat on the grill head and seals it from above. It keeps rain, leaves, and dust out of the charcoal tray.
The second benefit is often overlooked: when placed on top, it smothers residual embers after grilling. Without oxygen, the charcoal goes out instead of smoldering for hours. This saves charcoal for the next evening and makes the grill ready for transport more quickly.
No cooking under this lid
The lid lies flat; it does not curve. This means there is no space for heat to circulate.
It is not suitable for indirect grilling, baking, or smoking—for that, there is the barbecue hood with its domed shape and thermometer. The lid is a cover, not a cooking tool. Those who confuse the two will be disappointed.
Stainless steel V2A, easy to store flat
Made of non-magnetic V2A stainless steel, the same material as the grill. It does not rust, even if it lies in the rain for months.
With a height of two to three centimeters, it can be stored flat against a wall or pushed under the grill. For the winter break, this is the practical difference compared to a hood, which takes up space.
For grills that stay outdoors
The lid is worthwhile for anyone whose grill doesn't go into the cellar after every use. Those who put it away anyway hardly need it.
One limitation: The lid protects from above, not from the side. In case of driving rain or snow, a complete protective cover is the better choice. For everyday use between two barbecue evenings, it is sufficient.
A covered grill is simply lit next time.
