Orange Blossom Honey from Spain – floral, fruity, sunny

Beauharnais Carlant's Orange Blossom Honey (Miel de Fleur d'Oranger) is an amber-colored varietal honey from the orange groves of Southern Spain. Mild, floral, slightly caramel-like, with a delicate citrus sweetness. Unpasteurized, bottled by the gourmet food company Carlant in Strasbourg.

Orange Blossom Honey (Miel de Fleur d'Oranger) from Beauharnais Carlant is a light, amber-colored varietal honey, extracted from the nectar of white orange blossoms – in the large plantations of Southern Spain, primarily around Valencia and Andalusia. When the orange trees are in full bloom in April and May, bees collect the sweet-scented nectar for 4 to 6 weeks, which gives the honey its characteristic aroma. 250 g in a jar, unpasteurized.

A honey like a long spring morning in the south. Those who spoon it onto their breakfast bread taste the orange even before it ripens on the tree – not as a fruit note, but as a delicate floral fragrance with a subtle sweetness.

Amber-colored, mild and delicately fruity

The orange blossom honey appears light golden to amber-colored in the jar, with a texture that varies between liquid and creamy depending on storage – both are signs of its untreated purity.

The scent immediately evokes the memory of a blooming orange grove – floral, fruity, sunny, with a subtly citrusy freshness that doesn't come from the fruit itself, but from a natural aromatic compound of the blossoms. On the palate, it reveals a sophisticated, slightly caramel-like sweetness, with a delicate finish. A rather light honey that lingers long without being overpowering.

On breakfast bread, in herbal tea, for poultry glaze

We are smitten with orange blossom honey because its mild versatility makes it a reliable all-rounder – whether on bread, in tea, or in warm cuisine.

We love it classic on a slice of sourdough bread with salted butter, as well as over a bowl of Greek yogurt with fresh berries. In a cup of Earl Grey or verbena, its floral aroma unfolds particularly beautifully. Try it as a glaze for poultry: 1 tablespoon honey, a little lime juice, 5 ml olive oil, a piece of fresh ginger – rub the chicken with the mixture, let it marinate for 30 minutes, and roast until crispy in the oven at 180 degrees.

Our kitchen tip: a teaspoon over freshly sliced orange segments with mint and a pinch of fleur de sel – the fruity-floral sweetness meets salty freshness, a winter dessert that tastes like summer.

From the orange groves of Southern Spain, bottled in Strasbourg

Orange blossoms are among the most coveted sources for beekeepers worldwide – their nectar is available for a short time, the trees only bloom for 4 to 6 weeks in spring, and the aroma of the blossom is so unique that it can be recognized in every jar.

Behind Beauharnais stands the gourmet food company Carlant from Strasbourg, founded around 25 years ago in the Rue de Wasselonne. Beauharnais is not a beekeeper itself – as Carlant emphasizes, the company carefully selects honeys from the harvesting regions of its varietal partners and bottles them in 250g jars in its own manufactory.

The Spanish orange blossom honey comes directly from beekeepers in Valencia and Andalusia, is processed untreated – meaning not heated, not filtered – and thus preserves its bright, floral aroma. Impressive.

Enjoyment tip

At room temperature, 12 to 18 degrees, spoon-soft, stored in a dark and cool place – this keeps the orange blossom honey aromatic for a long time. If it crystallizes later, this is a sign of quality: place the closed jar in warm water at around 40 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes, stir briefly, and it will become liquid again. Try it alongside the herbaceous Provence Blossom Honey or the aromatic Lavender Honey IGP from the same company – three small spoons side by side, and you have a small European journey at your kitchen table.
