Minimax Starter Package is the complete solution for getting started with the Big Green Egg Minimax: grill, carrier, Conveggtor, 4.5 kg charcoal, firelighters, and ash tool in one package. No individual component setup. No trial assortment. No accessories for other EGG sizes.

The Minimax Starter Package is the official entry-level bundle from Big Green Egg for the Minimax Kamado with a Ø 33 cm cooking grate. At its heart is the Minimax itself — 35 kg of dense cordierite ceramic in a 50 cm high body. Around it: a Carrier with two steel handles, the classic Conveggtor for indirect grilling, 4.5 kg of Big Green Egg charcoal, a firelighter, and an ash tool. With this package, you can perform the first burn-off directly after delivery and grill on the same evening — without ordering separate accessories.

What's included in the delivery

Six components, all in the same proportion as assembled by a Big Green Egg specialist dealer. The Minimax provides the cooking chamber made of Japanese-inspired cordierite ceramic with 856 cm² of grilling surface. The Carrier is the carrying aid with two all-round steel handles, also serving as a stable base for a table, bench, or outdoor kitchen. The Conveggtor is the well-known one-piece heat deflector for indirect cooking — the new Dual Zone Deflector Kit is not available for the Minimax. The charcoal made from FSC-certified wood is sufficient for about five to seven sessions, firelighters and an ash tool complete the set for the first few weeks. If you want a pizza stone, wireless thermometer, or charcoal basket, order them separately — this package deliberately remains focused on the essentials.

33 centimeters of cooking grate, six people at the table

The Minimax is only seven centimeters higher than the Mini, but has the same cooking grate diameter as a Small — 33 cm. On this surface, up to six portions of steak, a whole chicken, or four corn cobs can be cooked simultaneously. With the included Conveggtor, you can transform it into an indirect cooker for pulled pork, brisket, or bread in seconds. The typical Big Green Egg temperatures — from 80 °C for cold smoking to 350 °C for pizza — can be precisely controlled via the air inlet and the Daisy Wheel.

From experience: Let the Minimax run for two hours at 200 °C during the first burn-off before placing food on it for the first time. This burns off production residues and sets the ceramic. One limitation remains: The Minimax is too small for pulled pork portions for twenty guests — for that size, the Large or XLarge variant is the right choice. Also, two thermal zones simultaneously, as with the Large with a Dual Zone Deflector Kit, cannot be sharply delineated on the Minimax.

Big Green Egg was founded in Atlanta in 1974 and has been producing Kamado grills made of dense cordierite ceramic ever since. The Minimax is the youngest addition to the family below the Mini. It was designed for city apartments, campers, boats, and table grilling sessions — wherever the space requirement of a Large does not fit, but full Big Green Egg functionality is desired. In the Carrier, you can even transport the Minimax in the trunk if necessary: 35 kg are distributed over the two steel handles and can be comfortably carried by two people. For city apartments, balconies, and the first Egg

This package is the right choice if you are working with a Kamado for the first time and don't want to juggle between three online shops to get the basic equipment together. It is suitable as a gift for hobby cooks with a small outdoor area or for campers who don't want to do without their own Egg on the go. If you have the space and budget for a Large, you should go for the larger variant — the Minimax is deliberately the uncompromisingly compact entry, not a replacement for a fully equipped outdoor setup.
