Big Green Egg MiniMax 2026. Tabletop Ceramic Grill with ConvEGGtor from the Factory.

Big Green Egg MiniMax 2026 combines the most compact model of the BGE family with the ConvEGGtor to create a set for direct grilling, indirect cooking, smoking, and pizza baking. 33 cm grill grate diameter, 855 cm² grilling surface, 35 kg ceramic, 50 cm tabletop height — a full-fledged ceramic grill that fits on the dining table or in the car.

Big Green Egg MiniMax 2026 is a ceramic charcoal kamado with a 33-centimeter grill grate diameter, in a set with the ConvEGGtor — the ceramic heat deflector that transforms the Egg from a direct grill into a convection oven. The MiniMax is the most compact BGE model with the grilling surface of a Small, packed into a height of only 50 centimeters. 35 kilograms of ceramic can be easily lifted onto a table, into the trunk, or onto a boat by two people using the included EGG Carrier. The deep green glaze lies smoothly over the surface, without crazing. When the lid is opened, the powder-coated steel bands of the Easy-to-lift hinge work just as smoothly as on its larger siblings.

33 Centimeters Grate, 855 Square Centimeters Grilling Surface

The MiniMax holds about four burger patties, two medium steaks, or a 30-cm pizza on one level. Inside, you will find a stainless steel grill grate, a cast iron charcoal grate, and a ceramic firebox and fire ring — identical in design to the larger models, just in the appropriate dimensions. The patented REGGulator lid vent made of cast iron is magnetically held. The lower air intake is a polished stainless steel flap with a scale.

The ceramic itself comes from Mexican production. It is based on a technical recipe with roots in NASA heat shield material research. The porcelain glaze baked into the factory completely seals the surface — the manufacturer provides a lifetime warranty on the ceramic components for registered devices. With a one-kilogram charcoal filling, you can keep the MiniMax at 110 degrees for over ten hours — which, with a smaller grilling surface, means that an entire slow-cook evening is possible with a single filling. If you want to use charcoal briquettes, you should know: They are not suitable for this because they produce more ash than pure lump charcoal, clog the small vents faster, and make temperature control less precise.

Tabletop, Camping, Professional Kitchen

The ConvEGGtor transforms the MiniMax into three cooking zones: direct, indirect, and convection. With a height of 50 centimeters, it becomes a full-fledged tabletop grill that works on the dining table, the cabin porch, or directly on the boat dock.

An excerpt of the possibilities: four burgers at 280 degrees direct, 4 minutes per side. A pulled pork in the Boston-Butt cut variation at 110 degrees indirect for ten to twelve hours with a hickory smoking chunk. A Pizza Margherita at 300 degrees with ConvEGGtor and a pizza stone — the stone base needs 25 minutes of preheating time. Hot-smoked salmon fillet at 80 degrees with alder wood, 35 minutes. If you want to divide the interior additionally, combine the ConvEGGtor with a half-round ConvEGGtor — one side direct, one indirect, all at the same time.

From experience: The MiniMax is popular in upscale gastronomy — many Michelin-starred kitchens use it as a garnish-table Egg for smoked dishes at the pass. However, its compact interior reacts more quickly to temperature changes than a Large: The ventilation flaps only need small corrections, otherwise the temperature will overshoot or undershoot. If you have only operated gas grills so far, you should expect a learning curve of two to three cooking evenings.

From the Youngest Family Member to Professional Favorite

Big Green Egg goes back to Ed Fisher, who opened a small shop for Japanese pachinko machines in Atlanta in 1974. From his time stationed as a naval officer in Japan, he had brought a kamado grill and used it to prepare chicken wings in front of the store — as a magnet for foot traffic. Thus, the pachinko importer became the first kamado dealer in the United States.

The MiniMax came to the family relatively late. It is the youngest member of the BGE line, introduced for mobile applications and small households who wanted a full-fledged kamado — without the permanent location that the larger models require. Unlike the Mini, it has the full grilling surface of a Small and can therefore accommodate an entire chicken. The ceramic comes from the same Mexican manufacturer as all Eggs. The glaze follows a special firing process: After treatment with the green porcelain glaze, the ceramic is slowly and evenly brought to 1,300 degrees over two days and cooled down just as slowly. The result is a closed, craze-free surface. Each Egg undergoes a sound test before delivery — a technically clean ceramic sounds bright and resonant when tapped with a finger. This quality control explains why the manufacturer grants a lifetime warranty on the ceramic.

Why the ConvEGGtor Becomes Standard in 2026

With the 2026 model year, BGE eliminates the previous separation of Egg and heat deflector. Previously, the ConvEGGtor had to be purchased separately — especially with the MiniMax, where buyers often first thought of a quick steak, the desire for pulled pork and pizza usually only came after the first few cooking evenings. With the new model year, the heat deflector is part of the set from the factory. The EGG Carrier is included as standard with the MiniMax, as usual — making the set immediately transportable. The MiniMax 2026 is suitable as a gift for mobile gourmets, camping enthusiasts, boat owners, or as a second Egg next to a permanently installed Large in the outdoor kitchen.

A ceramic grill that goes wherever you go — now with everything you need for indirect cooking.
