Fruity-sour and with a subtle chili kick
Königskind Redcurrant Chutney is a fruity-spicy specialty made from 75% redcurrants, refined with shallots, redcurrant liqueur, honey, and a pinch of chili – handmade by Uwe König in his small gourmet manufactory in the Bergisches Land region. A versatile companion for cheese boards, baked cheese, burgers, and potato pancakes.
The Redcurrant Chutney from Königskind is a fruity-sour seasoning sauce with a distinct berry aroma, in a 185g jar from Wiehl in the Bergisches Land region. With 75% redcurrants, a little sugar, shallots, a dash of redcurrant liqueur, honey, salt, and a pinch of chili, only a few hand-picked ingredients go into the jar – without artificial flavors, colorings, preservatives, or flavor enhancers. The chutney is handcrafted by Uwe König and his team and gently bound with natural pectin.
Berry-sour, slightly tart, and with a warming chili note
Once opened, the typical scent of red, sun-ripened redcurrants rises – sour-fruity, with a slight tartness that is somewhat rounded off by the berry liqueur. The consistency is pleasantly thick, with visible berry pieces that provide texture when spooned. The color is a bright, deep red, immediately reminiscent of hand-picked redcurrants.
On the tongue, the Redcurrant Chutney begins with a full berry acidity, then comes the finely balanced sweetness of sugar and honey, followed by the warm tone of the shallots and a delicate chili tingle that becomes noticeable at the very back of the palate. The balance of acidity, sweetness, and spice is beautifully calibrated – a classic berry chutney with character, without drifting into jammy sweetness.
We enjoy it with baked cheese, potato pancakes, and venison
The Redcurrant Chutney is a wonderfully versatile companion. Particularly convincing with a classic cheese board: with a ripe Camembert, creamy Brie, or a strong Comté, its fruity acidity is perfectly showcased. On crispy baguette with a little goat cheese and a dollop of redcurrant chutney, every dinner becomes a small aperitif scene.
We also like it with warm baked cheese: a small Camembert or goat cheese in the oven for 10 minutes, topped with the chutney – a wonderfully umami-fruity dinner with crispy bread and lamb's lettuce is ready. It's a classic partner for game and roasts: venison goulash, saddle of venison, or duck breast pair wonderfully with the berry acidity. It's also a delight on burgers instead of ketchup, in sandwiches with Brie, with potato pancakes and sour cream, or with baked feta.
Our tip: stir a spoonful of redcurrant chutney into a sauce for venison roast or beef fillet – the acidity enhances the meat flavors without overpowering them. Equally worthwhile from the Königskind kitchen are the classic Mango Chutney, the spicy-aromatic Orange Chutney, and the matching Fig Mustard for the cheese board. Further delicacies can be found in our Königskind collection.
Uwe König and his kitchen under the Ziegenbusch in Wiehl
The Königskind gourmet manufactory is the passion project of Uwe König. What began as a hobby in his home kitchen in 2005, he expanded into self-employment in 2014 due to the growing demand for his chutneys and fruit spreads. To this day, all Königskind products are cooked in the kitchen "unterm Ziegenbusch" in the Bergisches Land region between Gummersbach and Nümbrecht – all by hand, in manageable quantities, with the support of his wife Sabine.
Uwe König uses only untreated fruit for his Redcurrant Chutney and consistently refrains from artificial flavors, colorings, preservatives, and flavor enhancers. This is the Königskind philosophy: a few honest ingredients that still taste of the fruit and the season in which they were picked. In addition to the Redcurrant Chutney, we also carry Mango Chutney, Orange Chutney, Plum Chutney, Fig Mustard, and fruit spreads from the same kitchen – all products with the same signature style.

How it all began
Does this sound familiar? You return from vacation with a bottle of olive oil from Portugal in your suitcase, a jar of fruit spread from South Tyrol, perhaps a bar of chocolate from a small factory in France — and you ask yourself: Why can't I find something like this easily at home? We kept asking ourselves this question.
We are Kerstin and Stephan Uhlenbusch from Nordhorn, a city on the German-Dutch border. On our travels through Europe, we made the most wonderful culinary discoveries: mountain apple juices from the high altitudes of South Tyrol, Breton barrel butter, handmade pasta from Italy, French sea salt. It wasn't the big luxury products that fascinated us, but rather the honest, artisan-made foods from people who put their heart and soul into their products.
In 2002, we decided to turn this passion into our profession: to make good food accessible to everyone who cannot travel to the producers themselves. This is how our gourmet shipping business came into being — initially as a store in Nordhorn, soon after as one of the first gourmet online shops in Germany. Back then under the name nur Gutes (only good things) — today we continue it as ginusslande.com. The ambition has remained the same: this is where good taste resides.
Who we are
What drives us is the same curiosity with which we started in 2002: finding out who truly makes good food. Over more than two decades, we have built a network — with producers, traders, restaurateurs, and culinary artisans from all over Europe.
Kerstin was the managing director of the association of leading delicatessen merchants in Germany — the industry association of the country's best owner-managed delicatessen stores. In this role, she not only accompanied but actively shaped the German delicatessen industry. With the deli Festival, we also launched our own B2B trade fair for delicacies, which brought together producers, traders, and restaurateurs from all over Europe. The festival no longer exists today — but the relationships that arose from it still accompany us.
What does this mean for you? We know our industry like almost no one else. Chambers of commerce and economic development agencies from all over Europe repeatedly introduce us to exciting producers who want to offer their products on the German market. This way, genussland always offers something you won't find in any supermarket and hardly in any other shop.
What you'll find here
Our assortment includes fine foods, delicacies, wines, non-alcoholic beverages, and selected kitchen and home accessories — from manufacturers in Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, England, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Greece, and the USA.
An extra virgin olive oil from Portugal, a genuine Aceto Balsamico from Modena, Fleur de Sel from the Breton coast, hand-mixed spice blends. Fruit spreads, aromatic honey, truffle delicacies, chutneys, and mustard sauces. Vintage sardines and fine canned fish, risotto rice, and handmade pasta — basic ingredients for honest cooking and specialties for special moments.
Our fresh delivery service brings the legendary Beurre Bordier from Brittany, Italian Burrata, and fine salami to your home — securely packaged and continuously chilled.
Wine is particularly close to our hearts: white wine from Rheinhessen and the Pfalz, red wine from Austria and Burgenland, rosé for barbecue season, natural wine for the adventurous, sparkling wine and champagne for special moments. Not from all over the world — but from winemakers we have personally visited and whose work we appreciate. Many of them work organically or biodynamically.
Our Philosophy
What makes a product a genussland product? We ask ourselves this question for every single item we add to our range. The answer is never one-dimensional – it's the combination of craftsmanship, origin, ingredients, and the people behind them.
We ask many questions before a product finds its way into our shop. How is it made? Where do the raw materials come from? What philosophy does the manufacturer pursue? We quickly notice whether we are hearing marketing clichés or if a producer is happy to explain their journey. It is precisely this enthusiasm that we seek – and repeatedly find.
Craftsmanship. We prefer products from small manufactories and family businesses that often produce their culinary treasures by hand for generations. The careful processing and artisanal skill can be tasted in every bite.
Best Ingredients. For us, good quality begins with the raw materials. Whether it's fruit, vegetables, milk, meat, or grain – we ensure that our manufacturers rely on first-class, as natural as possible, ingredients. Many of our producers are organically certified; our shop itself is organically controlled under the number DE-ÖKO-037.
Origin and Regionality. We appreciate products with a clear regional identity. A South Tyrolean mountain apple juice made from slowly ripened, old apple varieties. A Portuguese olive oil from trees that have shaped the landscape for centuries. These stories of origin make delicacies what they are.
Personal relationship with the manufacturer. We have known many of our suppliers personally for years, some for over two decades. We visit them, taste together, and exchange ideas. This proximity guarantees transparency and trust.
At the end of the day, it has to taste good. We try all products ourselves – not just once, but again and again while cooking, at the table, on the plate. Only what convinces us personally finds its way into the shop.
The people behind the products
What brings us the most joy: We get to accompany passionate individuals on their journey. People whose drive it is to make a good product even better. Some have been with us since our founding - for over twenty years.
There's the South Tyrolean fruit farmer who presses mountain apple juice from old, slowly ripened apple varieties, unlike anything else. The Italian balsamic family who ages their vinegar in Modena for decades. The Breton butter manufactory whose hand-churned butter is on the menu of the best restaurants in Europe. The Danish licorice pioneer who reinvented a centuries-old specialty.
Behind every product in our shop stands a person, a family, a story. And it is precisely these stories that make the difference between an interchangeable food item and a true delicacy.
This is where good taste resides
Whether you want to order fine foods online, are looking for a special wine, want to put together a gift for a loved one, or simply want to enrich your kitchen with high-quality ingredients — genussland is the right place for you.
Browse through our assortment, get inspired, and conveniently order your favorite products to your home. Read more about our approach on the Sustainability and Responsibility page. Do you have a question? We look forward to your message to our Customer Service.

Refrigerated Shipping
Our product range includes food items that react differently to heat. To ensure that every product arrives in perfect condition, we handle the shipping of two product groups with particular care.
Products requiring refrigeration
These items are marked with the note "kühlpflichtig" (requires refrigeration) in our shop — for example, Bordier butter, Parmigiano Reggiano from Cavola 993, Pancetta and Guanciale from Falorni, mountain herb ham and Tyrolean dumplings from Steiner, Prosciutto Crudo and truffle butter from Viani. We generally ship these products by express delivery with ice packs. They are only available via express shipping. The shipping costs will be clearly displayed before you complete your order at checkout.
Temperature-sensitive products
These items are marked with the note "temperaturempfindlich" (temperature-sensitive) — for example, salami and bacon specialties from Falorni and Steiner, as well as Goufrais cocoa confectionery. In cooler weather, they can be sent by standard shipping. In warmer weather, we switch the shipping to express shipping with ice packs before checkout — in this case, this shipping method is the only option, and the corresponding shipping costs will be displayed at checkout.
Shipping days for refrigerated and temperature-sensitive orders
To prevent any package from remaining in a distribution center over the weekend or public holidays, we only ship refrigerated orders from Monday to Thursday. Orders placed after Thursday will generally not be shipped until the following Monday. In summer, this rule also applies to temperature-sensitive products.
Packaging
Depending on the manufacturer, sausage and cheese specialties are supplied either vacuum-packed or traditionally without foil — for example, Italian salami from Falorni. If air is visible in a vacuum package upon delivery, this is not a quality defect. Please unpack the item and store it in the refrigerator, ideally wrapped in sausage paper or greaseproof paper.
Freight Forwarding
Freight forwarding is used for products that cannot be delivered as a package due to their size or weight. The selection is made automatically before completing the order. Please provide your phone number for scheduling the freight forwarding delivery.
Delivery Area
Currently, we only ship within Germany. Shipping to Austria is in preparation — as soon as we can deliver there, you will find the details here.
Products subject to excise duty (alcohol) cannot be shipped to Austria.
Alcohol
Alcohol can only be shipped to adults. The deliverer will verify age upon delivery. By ordering alcohol, you also confirm that you or the recipient are of legal age.
Shipping Service
For manual creation of shipping labels, we charge an additional €2.50 per shipping label in addition to the stated shipping costs. Please note that we cannot retrospectively combine orders that have already been placed.
Investigation of failed payments
For the investigation and refund of payments incorrectly made to us, we charge a processing fee of €5.00.
With us, you pay in the way that is most convenient for you: PayPal, credit card, or Klarna.
Purchase on account, installment payment, and advance payment are also possible.
Of course, every payment is secure and reliable – so you can enjoy with complete peace of mind.
