Three Weaving Mills that Understand Their Craft

Ekelund Master Weavers has been weaving in Horred, Sweden, since 1692. If you see a table runner with an elk pattern for Christmas that doesn't look cheesy — it's probably from there. Le Jacquard Français produces damask tablecloths in the Vosges, like those found in fine Parisian restaurants. And Klippan Yllefabrik in Southern Sweden weaves wool blankets that are so heavy and warm they can get you through a winter half-year alone.

Good to know: Half-linen tea towels dry glasses better than anything else. Wash them at 60 °C with heavy-duty detergent, never with fabric softener — it coats the fibers and destroys absorbency. A small care tip that makes the difference between five years and twenty-five years of lifespan.
